Customers in Water District #1, specifically in the Paddy Hill area, may experience low water pressure until further notice. This temporary reduction is necessary while the old Brownville Bridge is being demolished and is intended to prevent excess pressure from building up in the water lines.

Zoning Fees have been amended with the additional penalty fee for work/use started before obtaining the required zoning permit. The fee will be $200.

Zoning permit process

  1. A zoning permit is required in the Town of Hounsfield for a building addition, structural changes, new building, new use of a building, pools, storage sheds, camps, garages, mobile homes, modular homes and new homes.
  2. IN ADDITION to a Zoning Permit a Building Permit from Jefferson County Codes Department may be required. It is the responsibility of the property owner to obtain this permit. You can contact Jefferson County Codes Department at 315-785-5130 or 175 Arsenal Street.
  3. On the application form fill out all the information required and submit the plot plan to the Town Clerk Office with the required fees. The Zoning Officer will then review the application.
  4. A zoning permit will expire six (6) months from the date of issue unless substantial progress has been made toward carrying out the terms of the zoning permit. The applicant shall have 1 year to complete the terms of the zoning permit, or all work shall cease at the site until the permit is renewed.
  5. Please make all checks payable to the Town of Hounsfield.
